D'ALBERTO FINISHES SECOND IN RACE 1

Tony D'Alberto scored his best result of the year when he finished second in Race 1 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series at Mt Panorama Bathurst today.

Starting from grid 3, the Victorian was on the pace from the start of the race and eventually overcame Nathan Pretty to secure second place.

"It was a great race for me," Tony said.

"The car was good from the start to the end; it is great when that sort of consistency is there."

The race, which was plagued by a number of Safety Car periods, was shortened due to a horrific accident where both Mark Porter and David Clark were seriously injured.

Tony and the GMAC Racing team wish both drivers and families the best at this difficult time.

Earlier in the day Tony qualified third on the grid with a time of 2:09.7469, just 2/10ths of a second from pole position.

"The car felt the best it has all year and the lap times showed it this morning," Tony said after qualifying," he said.

It was also Tony's best qualifying position of the year.

The juggle between his Fujitsu Series commitments and his role with the Toll HSV Dealer Team drive in the Supercheap Auto 1000 reached its peak today as Tony climbed almost from one car to the next as the schedule rolled out.

In his role with the Toll HSV Dealer Team Tony qualified 26 th for Sunday's Supercheap Auto 1000 with a time of 2:09.9785.
