In 1999 alone, ASI distributed nearly 2.5 million dollars in grants to various charities, through Angels Care and Mighty Ducks Care, both funds of the Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation. Angels Care and Mighty Ducks Care have enabled both teams to fund youth programs like the Gene Autry RBI League, Angels Rookie Ball program and Mighty Ducklings Youth Hockey League which provides a place for thousands of underserved children to become involved in the two sports. ASI is also very active in assisting with local health-related causes such as Muscular Dystrophy and Cystic Fibrosis along with drug prevention and educational programs and numerous children's programs to accommodate the diverse needs throughout the local region.
