US GP spectator information

INDIANAPOLIS, Monday, June 13, 2005 - Information for spectators attending the United States Grand Prix on June 16-19 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway:

TICKETS:

Reserved-seat tickets for the 2005 United States Grand Prix remain available and can be purchased online at www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com, by calling (317) 492-6700 or (800) 822-INDY, or at the IMS ticket office located in the Speedway's Administration Building.

Tickets are also available for purchase at the following locations:

*The IMS Photo Shop on the second floor of the Hall of Fame Museum.

*At IMS Gates 1, 3, 6 and 9 from June 16-19. These ticket locations will be open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. June 16-18 and from 6 a.m. until just after the start of the USGP on June 19.

*At the Brickyard Authentics stores located at Circle Centre Mall in downtown Indianapolis and the Indianapolis International Airport.

Among the reserved seats available are grandstands in two exciting locations: outside Turn 6 at the north end of the facility, the Corner 6 Terrace, and between Turns 10 and 11, the Corner 10 Terrace, directly behind the Speedway's Hall of Fame Museum.

The infield grandstand seats are among the closest reserved-seat views among all F1 venues worldwide, providing a vantage point that conveys the intensity of Formula One's skilled drivers and exotic cars at work. The front of the Corner 6 Terrace is approximately 50 yards from the edge of the track, and the Corner 10 Terrace is equally close.

General admission tickets are available for Friday, June 17 for $10 and Saturday, June 18 for $20. A combination general admission ticket for Friday and Saturday is $25. A combination general admission ticket for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is $60.

Children 5 and under are admitted free Friday and Saturday.

Ticket office hours through Race Day, Sunday, June 19 (all times local):

*June 13-15: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

*June 16-18: 7 a.m.-6 p.m.

*June 19: 6 a.m.-1 p.m.

PARKING:

Parking for both automobiles and motorhomes is available at a variety of Speedway lots outside the track. There is limited public parking inside the track during this event, accessible only through Gate 10. Passenger car parking is $20 per day, or a two-day event parking pass can be purchased in advance for $40. A four-day event parking pass can be purchased in advance for $50.

Motorhome parking is available for $40 for Race Day only (arriving no earlier than 7 p.m. Saturday, June 18), or a four-day pass is available for the Main Gate Lot for $150 or Lot 1 for $120. The Main Gate Lot is located across 16th Street from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's main entrance; Lot 1 is just northwest of the Speedway at the corner of 30th Street and Georgetown Road.

Parking also is available at private residences, primarily in Indianapolis neighborhoods north of IMS and in the Town of Speedway, west of the track, usually for a fee.

GATES and SECURITY:

Gates open at 7 a.m. (local time) Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18, and 6 a.m. Sunday, June 19.

Fans are encouraged to get to the track early to avoid delays.

All coolers, backpacks and handbags will be subject to security inspection.

CAMPING:

Camping is available in the following Speedway parking lots: Lot 1, located west of the Speedway's oval Turn 4; Lot 3, located just southeast of the track across 16th Street from the Brickyard Crossing Golf Resort and Inn; and Lot 4, located across Georgetown Road from Lot 1. Above-ground charcoal and propane-based grills are permitted. Ground fires are strictly prohibited in the designated camping lots.

COOLERS:

Coolers are welcome but limited to 14 inches wide by 14 inches long by 14 inches high. This policy will be strictly enforced.

GLASS CONTAINERS:

Fans are welcome to bring their own beverages onto the Speedway grounds, but glass bottles and glass containers are strictly prohibited.

CAMERAS/CAMCORDERS:

Photography and personal video equipment (camcorders) are permitted, including during the Pit Walkabout on Thursday, June 16.

INDYGO PUBLIC TRANSIT SERVICE:

Fans are encouraged to travel to and from the Speedway on USGP Race Day on the IndyGo public transit services. IndyGo Race Day Shuttle service leaves from the Indianapolis Airport and downtown Indianapolis on a regular basis, offering fast transit to and from the race. PIT WALKABOUT:

Race Day ticket holders have the rare opportunity to get an up-close look at the Formula One pits during a free pit walkabout from 8 a.m.-noon (local time) Thursday, June 16. Gate 2 (main gate/tunnel on 16th Street) and Gate 7 (located on Georgetown Road) will open to pedestrian and automobile traffic at 7 a.m.

The USGP pit walkabout has become a popular attraction since it debuted with great success in 2003. Thousands of Formula One fans will stream onto the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's legendary pit lane to get an up-close view of Formula One cars and team members.

Other USGP pit walkabout day featured activities include:

At 9:30, a public press conference featuring seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher and Hiroshi Yasukawa, director of Bridgestone Motorsport, on the Plaza Stage, located behind the Bombardier Pagoda control tower.

Formula One television personalities from Speed Channel will conduct Q&A sessions with current and former F1 drivers and personalities from 10:45 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Plaza Stage.

Autograph sessions with Formula One drivers and personalities will take place in Pagoda Plaza starting at 11:30, and go through most of the afternoon. Among the Formula One drivers scheduled to sign are Jenson Button, Takuma Sato, Ralf Schumacher, Jarno Trulli, Mark Webber, Christijan Albers, Patrick Friesacher, Felipe Massa, Christian Klien, Narain Karthikeyan and Tiago Monteiro. Also signing autographs will be American Formula One hopeful Scott Speed from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m., and Mario and Michael Andretti from noon-1 p.m. Menards Infiniti Pro Series' drivers also will sign autographs from 2-3 p.m.

United States Grand Prix ticket holders must display their race ticket for admission to the walkabout. No separate walkabout passes will be issued.

FAN GUIDES:

The United States Grand Prix Fan Guide, which is free, will be available beginning Monday, June 13 at a number of locations around the Indianapolis area, including the Indianapolis International Airport; the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's ticket office and Hall of Fame Museum, and various hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions and other locations. During the event, Fan Guides will be available for free at Guest Services booths located around the track.

The Speedway also will have a separate single-page, complimentary Spectator Brochure available at each gate. The brochure is also available online at www.usgpindy.com.

The Fan Guide includes the USGP event schedules, Formula One driver and team information, Indianapolis Motor Speedway information and a list of events taking place in the community during the "Grand Week in Indy" celebration.

"Grand Week" in Indianapolis:

Indianapolis will be alive with numerous cultural events the week of the United States Grand Prix. A full range of activities from live music festivals, racing shop tours and charity social events are planned as part of the "Grand Week in Indy," celebrating the sixth running of the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis. A number of musical and theatrical productions, plus art, zoological and museum exhibits are ongoing around the metropolitan area. Indy Jazz Fest

Indy Jazz Fest is scheduled for June 17-19 and is a family-oriented, multi-stage musical event featuring the best in local and national acts showcasing jazz, blues, roots, rhythm and blues and gospel music. Featured performers for 2005 include Chris Botti, The David Sanborn Group, the Commodores and the legendary Tony Bennett. CARA Charities Shop and Racing Technology Tour:

CARA Charities will conduct its third annual "Indianapolis Race Team and Technology Tour" starting at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16. Speed Channel commentator and Formula One insider Peter Windsor will be the featured speaker for the event.

The popular, exclusive tour will include the racing shops of IRL IndyCar® Series' Fernandez Racing, NHRA's championship drag racing's Don Schumacher Racing and North America's premier aerodynamic and vehicle dynamic testing facility, the Auto Research Center.

Buses will depart Rick's Boatyard Café promptly at 3:30 p.m. for private tours, returning to the waterfront restaurant for cocktails, live music, dinner and the presentation.

Downtown Car Cruises and Displays:

The Grand Weekend Car Cruises in downtown Indianapolis will feature some of the world's fastest and most exotic street automobiles, including Ferrari, BMW, Lotus, Corvette, Porsche, Jaguar and others. Six car cruises will take place between 3:30-8 p.m. on Friday, June 17 and five cruises will take place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18.

The Ferrari Club of America's "A Gathering of Ferraris" display will take place from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 17 at Monument Circle.

The car cruise routes, which will provide great viewing for the public, free of charge, will change slightly from Friday to Saturday. Consult the USGP Fan Guide for a Grand Weekend Car Cruises map.

Chrysler Concours Grand Prix

More than 200 cars, including antique automobiles, muscle cars, prototypes and exotic sports and race cars, will gather on Monument Circle from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. June 18. St. Elmo's Steakhouse will offer its famous shrimp cocktail, and steak sandwiches. Live entertainment will be provided from 6-10 p.m. Admission is free.

USGP Car Corral:

Visitors to IMS during Saturday and Sunday USGP activities also can view dozens of exotic vehicles up-close at the IMS Car Corral from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, June 18 and from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. on Race Day, Sunday, June 19.

The corral will be located on the backstretch of the Speedway's famous 2.5-mile oval.

Grand Prix Memorabilia:

The Sixth Annual Grand Prix of Motorsports Memorabilia show will take place on Saturday, June 18 at the Indiana Convention Center Rooms 101-103 in downtown Indianapolis. Rare racing memorabilia, including books, photos, programs, artwork, models and other items will be on sale. A small admission fee will be charged.
