DVB Racing 2011 season preview

WILLEBROEK, 7th January 2010. Following on from a season in which DVB RACING enjoyed its first encounter on the European motorsport scene, with amongst others a third and second place in the European GT4 Cup, not forgetting various national performances in both the BTCS with the Renault Clio as also in the Belcar with BMW M3 GT4, the Willebroek-based team is looking to go a step further in 2011. DVB RACING will now also be present in the Blancpain Endurance Series, the new European championship focussed on the 24 Hours of Spa, and in addition will be looking to concentrate on the European GT4 Cup as also competing on home soil.

"DVB RACING is fully determined to take a step up", team manager Frank Thuriaux commented "and the new endurance championship regarding the 24 Hours of Spa, the Blancpain Endurance Series is in fact a brilliant opportunity. We will be entering a Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, a car which has always performed well in other long distance events. Presently we have two of the three drivers and a championship with long race hours on some of the great European circuits such as Monza, Silverstone, Navarra and Magny-Cours should definitely entice some people. We'll definitely be making more announcements in the coming weeks. We would also like to carry on our programme in the European GT4 Cup, as our BMW M3 GT4 with its new aerodynamic kit will undoubtedly be highly competitive and this championship is an ideal platform for anyone looking to compete in a sprint championship at a European level, on circuits which are all within close vicinity of our country. Spa-Francorchamps is in fact one of the circuits on the calendar."

On home ground DVB RACING is also concentrating on a busy programme. The team, which has recently set up new workshops in Willebroek, will be entering one or possibly two BMW M3 in the Belcar Endurance Championship and is also looking at an eventual entry with the Renault Clio in the BTCS.

"We will definitely be coming to the Belcar with a four-door BMW M3 and the BMW M3 GT4 will also be entered. Both cars can start in the touring category and our ambition is to concentrate on the touring car championship. For any driver, looking to clock lots of laps in a reliable car, there's only one address. The possibility also exists, should we come across interested drivers, that the Lamborghini Gallardo would also be entered in Belcar. However this remains an option, dependent upon the interest shown. And 'last but not least' there is also the opportunity to compete in the BTCS with us at the wheel of a Renault Clio, but here once again this will depend upon the interest generated. In fact there is always the possibility of putting together a specific and limited programme."
