Balfe Lines Up Fourth For Race One in Jarama

Shaun Balfe put the Balfe Motorsport Mosler MT900R fourth on a 30-car grid for round three of the Spanish GT Championship at Jarama earlier today (May 22).

The Newark Glass Group backed racer took advantage of the drying track after overnight rain, although he was unable to set quicker times than the more powerful Marcos and Seat teams.

"We are pleased with fourth as we have had to start from scratch here with no previous data or set-up," said Balfe. "The other teams have all been here before and the cars in front of us have a lot more horsepower than we do."

Balfe was comfortably faster than the drivers behind him on the grid and will be aiming to keep out of trouble and pick up a good points finish in the first of two races of the weekend.

The team will take to the track for the second qualifying session at 2:05pm today (Spanish time), with Balfe's team-mate Nigel Taylor going for a time. The first race is scheduled to take place at 6pm (Spanish time).
