O2 Racing Birmingham test preview

Birmingham test

Peter Dempsey tests #36 Pulse car for O2 Racing at Barber

I am very excited to test in the Firestone Indy Lights series for O2.

Peter Dempsey

25 year old Dublin, Ireland native Peter Dempsey, an accomplished Star Mazda driver will be testing the #36 Pulse entry for O2 Racing Technology at Barber Motorsports Park Wednesday, March 16th.

Dempsey has won more Star Mazda events than any other driver in the history of the series, reaching the top of the podium 9 times over his two years of competition in the series. In 2009, Dempsey won more races than any other driver with 5 trips to the top of the podium. He finished the 2009 campaign just 12 points behind the eventual champion Adam Christodoulou. Dempsey managed to improve from his 2008 effort where he won 4 events and finished third in the points.

Peter states,

I am very excited to test in the Firestone Indy Lights series for O2. To get behind the wheel and show what I can do with this car is what every driver lives for. We are at that really interesting time of the year when all the hard work off the track, putting together funding and staying in shape, starts to pay off. For now though, I can’t wait to get in the car and show what I can do. I would like to thank the team for all the effort they have put in to get to this point.

Dempsey already has an impressive list of accomplishments. To name a few, he has won three championships, won over 35 races, been on the podium more than 45 times and won the prestigious Walter Hayes Trophy three times. Dempsey comes from a racing family and brings a long pedigree to this first event of the 2011 season.

O2 Racing Technology Owner Mark Olson states,

It’s truly a pleasure to have Peter in our car. We’ve been working hard on this deal for a while, and we are looking forward to bringing it to completion. We can’t thank Pulse enough for stepping up with their support of Peter. We are all very impressed with Peter’s professionalism, attitude, and enthusiasm. His record is unparalleled and speaks for itself.

The Barber test begins Wednesday morning March 16th at 10:15 am eastern.
