Roadrunner Motorsports get new engines

(Fairfield, Calif.) -- Roadrunner Motorsports has announced Hutter Racing Engines will supply engines for Jim Inglebright and the No. 02 Jelly Belly Chevrolet for the rest of the 2001 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) season. The team began the season with John "Freight Train" Peters' Engines and made the switch Aug. 3rd at the Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP).

"We felt we were down on horsepower," said Inglebright, who has run six NCTS races in 2001 and qualified a career best seventh two weeks ago at IRP with a Hutter Racing engine. "We needed someone with the experience and resources that Ron Hutter brings. Hutter Racing Engines has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. John "Freight Train" Peters' Engines are great, however, the disadvantage there was the availability of resources on the West Coast."

Inglebright was on pace for a career finish in the Jelly Belly 200 at the Pikes Peak International Raceway when a valve spring broke on the 137th lap. His 26th-place finish left the team disappointed and well back in the point standings. Prior to the Jelly Belly 200, Inglebright endured two other engine problems; one during a test session and the other during the Ram Tough 200,where he placed 29th in the 36-truck field.

"The decision to switch was a team effort," said Inglebright, who will make his seventh NCTS start at the Chicago Motor Speedway this Saturday. "The team is very excited about the new engine program. We feel we'll be more competitive now."
