Wimmer and Key Motorsports Ready For O’Reilly Auto Parts 300
Altamonte Springs, FL/April 6, 2011 - Scott Wimmer and his #40 Key Motorsports squad embark on Texas Motor Speedway for this weekend’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 this Friday night on ESPN2 at 8:30pm looking to make certain strides that will bode them very well as the season progresses.
“We’ve stated all year that we’re a Top-15 team, but have encountered engine reliability issues in three of our races so far,” said Scott Wimmer. “When we haven’t had issues, we’ve been able to show very strong. Curtis and the Key Motorsports team are making changes that we’re hoping will help our reliability so we can get some good points results in Texas and Talladega, two races that are high horsepower races”
(We) have encountered engine reliability issues in three of our races so far,
The teams Top-15 goals with Wimmer at the controls seem realistic enough, especially given Wimmers six Top-15 results, and two Top-10’s in his seven NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Texas Motor Speedway in his career. Wimmer has an average finish of 13th at the famed circuit, and looks to continue that trend this weekend. A solid points finish couldn’t come soon enough for the hard fighting team as Wimmer currently sits in 22nd in the Driver Championship standings, some nine points out of the Top-20, with Curtis Key in 31st position in Team Owner Championship standings, a mere one point out of the coveted Top-30 that gives you an automatic place in the field of 43, and eliminates that go-or-go-home situation that no team looks forward too.
