CHUCK ETCHELLS, WHIT BAZEMORE SET TO KICK OFF SUPER BOWL SUNDAY ON TNN'S "RACEDAY"

Putnam, Connecticut, January 26, 1998 - - This Sunday, millions of Americans will sit in front of their television sets, transfixed by the annual event known as the Super Bowl. For hours before and after the game, they will be regaled with every possible detail, not only on the participating teams and the game at hand, but on every championship contest throughout the history of the NFL. However, Chuck Etchells Racing would like to invite you to preface your foray into this football festival by taking time to ingest some fast-paced racing news on Raceday, The Nashville Network's weekly racing program.

Raceday is a live, one-hour show hosted by Rick Benjamin which reviews the past week's top news stories from the world of motorsports. On Sunday, January 31, Benjamin shall welcome Chuck Etchells, owner of the Kendall Oil/Superwinch Camaro Z28 Funny Car and Whit Bazemore, his newly hired driver as guests in the Charlotte, North Carolina studio. Subjects to be discussed will probably include the unlikely pairing of these former rivals and their strategy for the 1999 NHRA Winston Drag Racing season. In addition, Chuck Etchells shall explain his recently announced plan to compete on a limited basis in the Sickles Corp. Motorsports entry.

The Etchells team is coming off a very successful three-day test in Phoenix, Arizona, which saw Bazemore make his first passes in the Kendall Camaro. Showing consistent improvement on every run, Bazemore logged two four-second runs in three attempts, culminating with a 4.886- second, 303.43 miles-per-hour effort on Sunday morning.

"The car was absolutely perfect," stated Bazemore after the weekend. "The best news is that it was quick right out of the box, which is important looking at the year ahead. I'm sure the General (Crew chief Tim Richards) is going to take all the data from this weekend and use it to fine-tune our Kendall Oil/Superwinch Camaro Z28 for Pomona. After this test, I see this team's potential, and I am really looking forward to getting the season started."

Raceday will air this Sunday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m. (ET) on The Nashville Network (TNN). As always, please check your local listings.
