RONNIE DAY WINS NIGHT TWO OF DIRT CUP

It's been 4 long years since Ronnie Day ventured north to the 3/10th miles Skagit Speedway clay. His return was sweet, as he swapped the lead with local hot shoe Travis Jacobson to win the 30-lap Friday night feature of the 2005 Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup.

Brandon Harkness led the first 5 laps before Day snuck under him to take over the top spot, but Harkness would pass him right back on the next lap to retake the lead. Harkness held the top spot in heavy traffic when Jacobson passed him on the 13th lap for the lead. Day worked his way past Harkness and back into the lead when he passed Jacobson on the 25th lap. Day went low in turn 4 as Jacobson bobbled high to take the lead for the second time of the night. After a lap 26 yellow flag for a spinning Marc Huson, Day finished strong with Jacobson second, Harkness third, Jonathan Allard fourth and Brent Kaeding taking the fifth finishing position.

The B Main was won for the second straight night by Travis Rutz over with Thursday night winner Peter Murphy second place, Steve Kent third and Mike Faria fourth to take home all of the move up slots.

Kelly Barnett almost won the C main event. He led the first 13 laps and looked to have things well in hand when he spun in turn 4 handing the lead to Jason Statler. Statler, Henry VanDam, and Steve Parker transferred via the top three positions.

Heat race winners were Jeff Hodgson, Travis Jacobson, Toni Lutar and Brandon Harkness running with a blown head gasket all night long.

Travis Rutz set fast time at 11.563.
