June 6 - Johnny Tolan dies of natural causes (1986).
June 7 - John Cannon wins the SCCA Formula Continental race at Seattle, Washington, USA (1970).
- Mike Mosley wins CART race at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Mosley's only CART win and the last for an Eagle chassis. Only stock-block engine win and first Chevrolet win in CART. Only CART driver to win from the last starting row (1981).
June 8 - Lucien Bianchi dies in practice crash at Le Mans (1969).
- Richard Petty wins the Tuborg 400 NASCAR race at Riverside, California, USA (1975).
June 9 - Luigi Fagioli dies in practice crash for the Monoco Grand Prix (1952).
- Michael Andretti wins the CART ITT Automotive Detroit Grand Prix in a Lola-Ford. Toyota scores their first points in CART compitition when P.J. Jones' Eagle finishes 9th (1996).
June 10 - Bobby Unser wins both halves of the CART "Twin-100" at Trenton, New Jersey, USA. First CART race at Trenton (1979).
June 11 - F1 team owner and three-time F1 World Champion Jackie Stewart born (1939).
- Joe Fry, driving a Feikaiserwagen, sets the first post-WWII record of 37.35 seconds at the Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb (1949).
- Jud Larson and Willian "Red" Reigle both die in a sprint car crash at Reading, Pennsylvania, USA (1966).
