Optimistic Lacroix takes the Road to Atlanta

St-Eustache, September 26. -- It is with optimism and confidence that 16-year old Canadian driver Kevin Lacroix will enter the last double header of the Formula BMW USA 2005 schedule set as part of the ALMS Petit LeMans weekend that will be raced at the Braselton, Georgia facility. Trailing the leader by only two points after twelve rounds, Lacroix earned four victories and six podiums so far this season and he comes to Road Atlanta with the assurance he will dominate the field and come out the series new champion.

"Road Atlanta is the kind of track I can race to the limit, claims Kevin, without having to deal with concrete walls, traffic, back markers and red flags, like Denver. I remember we tested there for two days in March and I enjoyed that race track a lot. Our testing was very successful: the track is quite technical and reminds me of Laguna and Barber, two venues where I won a round. I know my #22 UniSelect car will be very fast and I am very excited to complete the season there."

Seven sessions on the schedule

For Kevin, it will be an extensive program with more than three hours on the track. "It is obviously the most important moment in the season, he says. But we knew this would go right down to the wire. a big part of the work will be Wednesday and Thursday with a full hour of practice and two qualifying sessions. I have to be very concentrated, get the best out of my car and stay out of trouble. I need a good car for the last race on Friday when the championship is going to be on the line."

There will be three outings Wednesday: practices at 10:30 and 12:45 before the first qualifying session at 3:45. Two more on Thursday with the second qualifying session taking place at 10:30 and the first race at 3:20 pm. Finally, Friday will have a short warm-up at 9:10 before the finale at 12:45. Saturday alone is for the 10-hour Petit LeMans race.
