Marshall brothers to drive for G&W Motorsports

Marshall brothers to campaign Picchio Daytona Prototype in 2004

ALTON, Va. (December 16, 2003) -- G&W Motorsports owner Cole Scrogham announced today that Danny Marshall of Danville, Va., and his brother, 2003 SRPII driver champion Steve Marshall of Christiansburg, Va., will pilot the No. 80 BMW-powered Picchio DP2 in the 2004 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series.

"We are really happy to see the Marshalls in the Daytona Prototype class next season. They certainly deserve to be among the best in the business," said Scrogham. "I think that they realize the vision of Grand American's plan for the future of road racing and want to get involved sooner, rather than later.

"The Picchio makes sense for them because it is a proven car that won't require development costs and can be a competitive entry against a lot of the cars coming into play next season. G&W is committed to making dreams come true for drivers in the DP class. We are planning steady growth in this category and are pleased to be the only team to participate in every Grand American race to date," he added.

"The Picchio DP2 with the BMW power plant proved to be reliable in 2003, and I am looking forward to moving to the top class in the Rolex Series and competing in a Daytona Prototype," said Danny Marshall.

"Danny and I have driven under the G&W banner for several years and are excited about running the Picchio next season and being in the Rolex Series' premier class," said Steve Marshall. "The Daytona Prototype should be fun, and the competition this year will be exciting."

"The Marshalls are looking for qualified co-drivers in selected events because of their demanding business and state government schedules, so there will be some opportunities out there in this car. This is a good thing, as it allows prospective drivers to sample the Daytona Prototype concept and the G&W team's abilities before taking a big leap," commented Scrogham.
