Team Apex Drivers Goncalvez and Horto Test Midgets

Brownsburg, Indiana, April 20, 2010 -- In preparation for the upcoming oval test at ORP Team Apex drivers Jorge Goncalvez and Joao Horto got the opportunity to test in a Ford Focus Midget owned by Steve Lewis of Nine Racing. The test was conducted at the Indianapolis Speedrome were some of auto racing's greatest drivers have raced including A.J. Foyt, Darrell Waltrip, Michael Waltrip,John Andretti, Johnny Rutherford, Lloyd Ruby, Gary Bettenhausen, Mel Kenyon, Bobby Allision and Tony Stewart.

On hand for the test were Team Apex Technical Director Louis D'Agostino and Driver Coach Rod MacLeod along with Nine Racing Team Manager Glenn Martin and USAC Midget Champion Billy Wease.

b^0x001cBoth drivers quickly adapted to the new feel of a front engine car and started to clip off excellent lap times here at the Speedrome facility," said Glenn Martin, Nine Racing Team Manager. "We were able to secure past Speedrome USAC Midget Champion Billy Wease to help instruct the drivers on the technical aspects of turning left and getting quickly up to speed. It was a fun experience for them and they learned fast."

"I was very impressed with both drivers as they adapted extremely well to the oval and the different handling characteristics of a midget" said Rod MacLeod.

Both drivers are looking for forward to the upcoming official Star Mazda test at O'Rielly Raceway Park on May 5th and 6th.

Team Apex Racing, USA was formed in 2004 and has been involved in grass roots racing since 1989. The team emerged as championship contenders in the 2005 Formula BMW USA series with Canadian rookie Robert Wickens and continued its winning heritage in 2007 with American superstar Alexander Rossi. Team sponsors include Wabash Capital Investments and Apex Performance x3 Cryogenics.
