Texas II: Toyota teams race notes, quotes

Kyle Busch earned his seventh win of the season in Friday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Busch led three times for a total of 80 (of 147) laps.

The victory marked the seventh for Busch at Texas, including five Nationwide Series victories and he also won last year's NCWTS race (Nov. 2009).

Todd Bodine (fourth), Aric Almirola (seventh) and Mike Skinner (eighth) also posted top-10 results for Toyota at the 1.5- mile speedway.

Tundra drivers Jason White (11th), Timothy Peters (12th), David Starr (15th), Tayler Malsam (21st), Justin Lofton (22nd), Max Papis (23rd), Jason Bowles (28th), Miguel Paludo (34th), Butch Miller (35th) and Johanna Long (36th) were also in the field.

Bodine continues to lead the unofficial NCWTS driver standings following Texas, holding a 230-point advantage over Almirola. Peters (sixth), Skinner (eighth), Starr (ninth) and White (10th) are also in the top-10 after 23 of 25 races.

Kyle Busch Motorsports now leads Germain Racing in the unofficial NCWTS owner standings by 72 points with two races remaining in 2010.

The Texas victory also enabled Toyota to clinch its fifth consecutive NCWTS manufacturer's championship (2006-2010).

How excited are you about your victory tonight? "This Tundra was awesome tonight. Once I got out front, that last restart saved me. I can't thank all the guys on this KBM (Kyle Busch Motorsports) team enough -- they did an awesome job. It's fun to be able to have the success we've had and hopefully we can continue to get some more for next year."

What are your thoughts on extending your team's lead on the owner's championship? "It's a big deal for Kyle Busch Motorsports. Just to be able to be in this position. It was less than a year ago that we all got put together. Probably 80 percent of the guys on the team didn't start until the middle of January and to be racing somebody like Todd (Bodine), those guys -- I can't imagine they've had any turnover the last couple years. It looks like all the same guys there. To be able to put the whole operation together, build the trucks, move into a new building, there's been so many things going on that to be able to keep doing what we're doing has been pretty awesome."

How was your race? "Our Valvoline Tundra was awesome. I chose the outside, figured momentum would carry it and I went down into the first turn even getting up to speed, just bottomed out and pushed. I knew we were in trouble right then on that last set of tires, they were just horrible. We didn't change anything from the run before where we were perfect. Went to pushing and were terrible. You have to live with it. We had a great Tundra. Germain Racing did a great job again. Texas is our track. I'll take the blame for this one, I gave this one away. I guess the consolation is it's a good points night. It still stinks."

How has your team been able to be so consistent this year? "I think that just shows how good our guys are and how good (Mike Hillman) Jr. (crew chief) and the team have been getting the truck setup. I've said quite a few times, the first five races we struggled with making them drive good and then went to work and figured it out and they've been driving great -- that's what allows you to keep that consistency. Even on a bad night and a bad run like tonight, bad tires at the end and pushing like crazy, we still finished fourth. I think it just shows how good the team really is."

How was your race tonight? "We were just too loose tonight. We didn't have the grip we needed in the truck. Our first stop we didn't get enough fuel in it and had to come back in to top it off. We came back up through the field and eventually led some laps when everyone else had to pit. We made some more adjustments, but never could run with the top five. It's another top 10 for the team, but we're looking for wins. We'll take this tonight and move onto Phoenix and see if we can't get a better run there."
