Portland Speedway Results

Portland, Ore. Eric Sayre of Vancouver, Wash. is peaking at just the right time as the veteran racer backed up his Budweiser 100 win with a thrilling come from behind win in last Friday's NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Grand American Modified feature at Portland Speedway. The improbable victory came with a last lap pass of then leader Donnie Martin to the cheers of the enthusiastic crowd. Martin rallied to finish second, with Tigard's Richard Whiteman finishing third, Tom Pinkowsky in fourth, and Don Jenner rounding out the top five. The win moves Sayre closer in the championship chase after 11 races in the 2001 season. Pinkowsky still leads Jenner by 21 points and Sayre by 41 markers. The NWRS Grand American Modifieds will return Friday, July 27 as PEPSI presents Dirt Fanatic Night at the races. Spectator Gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing beginning at 6:45 PM.
