Silver Dollar Raceway Yields Golden Times

REYNOLDS, Ga. -- Great weather resulted in great times today at Silver Dollar Raceway. With Friday being completely rained out, a packed schedule forced Top Alcohol's second round of qualifying into Sunday. This did not detour the racers although as Top Alcohol Dragster pilot Bill Reichert of Owosso, Mich., and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Steve Harker, Gainesville, Ga., posted track time records.

Reichert, who is looking to clinch the World Championship this weekend, came out strong running 5.268 seconds at a blistering 274.05 mph. Arthur Allen out of Jacksonville, Fla., clocked in at 5.394 seconds at 255.63 mph to take the second qualifying position.

Top Alcohol Funny Car is once again led by Gainesville, Ga., resident Steve Harker. His record time of 5.623 seconds at 257.24 mph positioned him ahead of Division 2 points leader Jay Payne of Claremont, Calif.

Top qualifier in Comp Eliminator was Peter Biondo of Maspeth, N.Y., who posted an astounding 7.925 second pass in his '07 GTO. Other top qualifiers included Roger Green, Baton Rouge, La., in the Super Stock class and Doug Patrick, Boca Raton, Fla., in Stock Eliminator. Top Sportsman is lead by Bert Prejean of St. Amant, La., and Allen Constantine, La Place, La. is at the head of the Top Dragster class.

Sunday, Oct. 26 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Eliminations begin at 9 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car second round of qualifying begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman. Eliminations for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car begin at 1 p.m.
