Greenwood Valley Micro Sprint Results 1999-09-18

After blowing an engine in a Heat Race, Brad McClelland, could have called it a night at The Greenwood Valley Action Track and headed home. Instead, McClelland changed engines, ran the Consolation Race, and started in 19th in the Micro Sprint Feature. Showing the skill and determination which has brought him more than 100 Feature wins, McClelland worked his way through the field before settling into second behind front runner Blane Heimbach. When Heinbach's engine suffered the same fate as McClelland's had earlier, the victory went to the Westminster, MD, resident.

Second in line for the checkered flag was Jason Kemp who comes from nearby Bloomsburg while third place was taken by Nick Lannan, Montoursville. The fourth place finisher was Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, fifth was Joe Bednarski from Wyoming, and sixth was Eric Heydenreich, Bloomsburg. In seventh was another Bloomsburg native, Brent Boyer, Skeetz Hockenbroch, Paxinos, was eighth, and in the last two slots were Ryan Frable, Penn Argyl and Dusty Scatzer.

The front row in the Rookie Micro Sprint Feature came up 7s at the beginning and end. Number 7 pole sitter, Chad Thomas, New Berlin, maintained the lead to the checkered flag while the other 7, outside pole sitter, Rick Morris from Catawissa, held on to second. Third to cross the line was Ralph Ferraro from North Plainfield, NJ, and fourth was Eric Eckert, Bristol. In fifth spot was Brian Wawroski, Bloomsburg, sixth was Ross Perchak, Hazelton, and seventh was Jay Horvath, Allentown. Eight through ten were Glen Walp, Wapwallopen, Jerry Mack, Selinsgrove, and K.C. Smith, Reading.

The lawn tractors were back again this week and it was a full haus of racing Fauses. First place went to Rod Faus, second to Pauly Faus, third to Dennis Faus, and - you guessed it - fourth was Kevin Faus.

Join friends and fans at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just off route 254, for the final points race of the season next Saturday. Racing continues after the Points Championship is decided with heavy competition through October, including the Seventh Annual "Thunder and Lightning." Gates open at 3:30, warmups at 5:30, and heats beginning at 6:00.
