US 36 Raceway Kicks off O'Reilly Sprint Bandits Memorial Day Weekend

TULSA, Okla. (April 8, 2004) 0x2022 The high-banked, high-speed US 36 Raceway in Cameron, MO, will kick off the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits three-day Memorial Day weekend swing by hosting the series on Friday night, May 28.

US 36 Raceway is just one of a handful of tracks in the country at which a sprint car has been clocked turning a lap in the sub-10 second range. The three-eighths mile oval, with 21-degree banking in the corners and 10-degree banking on the straight-aways, lends itself to a thrilling night of racing with a full field of O'Reilly Sprint Bandits.

"This could be the biggest event in the history of U.S. 36 Raceway," commented promoter Mike Franks. "The Sprint Bandits will put on a tremendous show at this race track and I think we'll have a packed house for this event."

After a night of full-throttle excitement at US 36 Raceway, the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits series makes its first ever appearance at the legendary Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night, May 29. The O'Reilly Sprint Bandits wrap up the weekend with a Sunday night stop at Butler County Speedway in Rising City, NE.

The Memorial Day weekend swing through Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska will wrap up a busy month of May for the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits, which kicks off with a non-point wingless challenge at Memphis Motorsports Park on May 7 versus the stars of the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series.

The next point event for the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits will be at Auto Tire & Parts Race Park in Benton, MO, on May 12, leading into a doubleheader at Little Rock's I-30 Speedway on Friday and Saturday, May 14-15.

By virtue of topping both ends of the series' inaugural event at Devil's Bowl Speedway, Sammy Swindell has snared the early point lead. Shane Stewart, Zach Chappell and Daryn Pittman are tied for second, with Danny Jennings and Steven King tied for fifth in Sprint Bandits points. Rounding out the current top ten are Terry McCarl, Kelly Kinser, Wayne Johnson and Jerrod Hull.
