I-70 Speedway to host event in 2005

I-70 Speedway will host an ASA Late Model Series Event in 2005

The ASA Late Model Series is pleased to announce the addition of I-70 Speedway to the schedule on June 18th. The event is certain to be one of the most thrilling events of the 2005 season.

I-70 Speedway is a 0.54-mile, asphalt oval located just north of I-70 at exit 41, about 30 miles east of Kansas City, near Odessa, MO. The front straight is banked 4 degrees and the slight dogleg backstretch is banked 7 degrees. The turns are banked at a blistering 30 degrees.

The ASA Late Model Series is proud to continue the ASA tradition at the legendary I-70 Speedway. ASA has a 37 year history and the Late Models Series is looking forward to participating this year in the I-70 Speedway's 35th Anniversary Celebration. That history has brought about a close relationship between the two entities through the years. The track has been in continuous operation since it opened in 1968, when it was the only paved oval track in Missouri.

ASA has held 28 events at I-70 Speedway with Dick Trickle atop the victory charts with five. Mike Eddy has visited the winner's circle on four occasions with Mike Garvey, Mike Miller and Bob Senneker winning two races. Glenn Allen Jr., Joey Clanton, Larry Detjens, Todd Forbes, Brad Loney, Mark Martin, Butch Miller, Adam Petty, Ruttman, Johnny Sauter, Tim Sauter, Gary St. Amant and Dave Watson are single-event winners. Garvey won the 2003 event at I-70 after powering around Donny Reuvers on the 171st circuit of the 250-lap event.
