Eagle B+ Racing driver Al Carter impatient to return to GRAND-AM Racing

Like his Fall-Line Motorsports teammates and fellow drivers competing in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Al Carter is impatient to return to racing at Mid-Ohio on June 13 after a very long break.

“I've been watching other race series on TV and I haven't had the chance to be on track during GRAND-AM's long May break. All I've been able to do is some laps in my head and check out some race videos. I have been doing my usual gym and running, also getting ready for my first tough mudder to stay busy. I am really just kind of going crazy as I am dying to get back to the racetrack. Our Fall-Line team has a BMW test first week in June and I’m very much looking forward to Mid-Ohio.”

Al Carter and teammate Hugh Plumb are in their 3rd seasons racing BMW M3s in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge with Fall-Line Motorsports. They had a very competitive season in 2012 but their early 2013 season has been nothing but bad luck.

After three tough results in a row at Daytona, Austin and Barber, the No. 45 Eagle B+ Racing / Fall-Line Motorsports team that was one of the top contenders to win the 2013 season, registered their first top ten finish at Atlanta. They believe they are on their way back to a competitive mode and are looking forward to the next seven races.

"We need a voodoo doctor because we work so hard and we do so many things right that we are in a constant state of battle with the racing gods to get luck on our side. Given the horrendous start that we had, now we're just trying everything that we can just looking for good finishes.

We're being aggressive with set-ups, we're being aggressive with time management, we're being aggressive with pit strategy, we're changing driver line-ups; anything that we can do to maximize our racing luck, we're ready to give it a try because we want to find a way to get back on the podium quickly."

Last season, Carter visited the podium of three major races in three different series. He finished 2nd in the World Challenge at Mid-Ohio with Fall-Line Motorsports, 2nd with TRG driving a Porsche in his first ever ALMS race at Mid-Ohio and won the GTC class of the ALMS Grand Prix of Baltimore, the first ever professional win of his young career. Al Carter and Hugh Plumb finished 7th last year at Mid-Ohio and are looking to score their first top five of the season there.

"I am excited to return to Mid-Ohio. It's one of those tracks that is not one of my favorite tracks just because it took me a little longer to get some of the nuances - just to get those last couple of tenths. But now I've driven it in the wet and the dry so I'll be ready for anything."

Carter and Plumb continue to act as Ambassadors of The B+ Foundation. Every day they promote their partner The B+ Foundation and the fight against childhood cancer. Before each key GRAND-AM race, they visit children's hospitals the week of the GRAND-AM event in the market where the race takes place.

The B+ Foundation Fighting Childhood Cancer Tour has already made stops at Orlando, Austin and Atlanta children's hospitals this year and the program will continue at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, June 12 where Carter and Plumb will once again put smiles on kids battling cancer's faces.

"I am tremendously proud of what we've been able to accomplish with The B+ Foundation Fighting Childhood Cancer Tour before the GRAND-AM Continental Tire races. You know here when we go back to Nationwide Children's Hospital, this will be our third visit to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus so we know the nurses there and the social workers.

Hopefully we won't see any kids that we saw before. We've built up a good rapport with the hospital, The B+ Foundation and the racing where we've got our own little community of B+ racing fans, heroes and healthcare providers.

It's a cool thing for GRAND-AM too and we thank the Mid-Ohio road course that donated tickets for the kids families to attend the race so we hope to welcome some of the families at the track on Saturday."
