Cameron Dodson To Drive Team Purple Racing Midget at Chili Bowl

Greenfield, IN -- January 6, 2005 -- 2004 MASS champion Cameron Dodson will kick off his 2005 racing season with a trip to the famed Chili Bowl in Tulsa, OK. The 16 year-old Greenfield Central High School student will drive the #11d fielded by Team Purple Racing. Dodson will qualify on Friday night for the event held in the Tulsa Expo Center.

At the 2004 Chili Bowl, the young Memphis, TN native won his qualifying night heat race and gathered enough points to start the Saturday night C Main.

"I am really looking forward to climbing back in a midget," said Dodson. "The Chili Bowl is one of those events every racer wants to be there in a competitive racecar and have a chance to win because it one of the premier midgets races in the country. The best drivers in the world show up to race this one.

"I want to thank Team Purple Racing for the opportunity. It is going to be fun and give me a chance to continue to learn how to adapt to different types of cars on different racetracks and race against some great competition."

There are an estimated 260 entries for the 19th running of the Chili Bowl. Qualifying races are held January 5 -- 7 with the finals on Saturday, January 8. Only 24 cars will make the 50-lap A-Main and race for the honor of adding their name to the prestigious list of previous Chili Bowl winners. Heat races for each qualifying night will get under way at 6:45, while Saturday's features will begin at 1:00 p.m.
