After the success of the season-opener All Star Race in Goiânia, Brazilian Stock Cars heads to Ribeirão Preto for the round two. The town is located 350 kilometers distant from São Paulo and is famous for its large-scale production of sugar cane and ethanol - and the hometown of Brazilian IndyCar driver Helio Castroneves.
The 2.298 km-long street circuit in the industrial district of the 700,000 people city hosts the first of nine double-headers of the championship.
The schedule was opened this Friday with a 30-minute shakedown, divided in two groups with a 15-minutes run each - not before a quick rain shower came to the circuit for five minutes just to moist up the tarmac.
Packed agenda
Real action starts in a packed agenda on Saturday: Practice 1 starts at eight o’clock in the morning with 40 minutes available for each of the two groups (16 cars each). At 11 o’clock, the cars go round the track once again for FP2.
Qualifying session starts at 2pm. Moreover, with no guest-drivers to share their cars with, drivers will catch up at the wheel of the 480 bhp-powered beasts in two races on Sunday. The first one is 40 laps long (within a 48-minute limit) and the lights go green at 11am.
The second header starts at 12:30pm with race 1’s top ten grid-reversed for 22 laps of pure action (limit of 28 minutes).
