As the carsales Network continues to cycle through its various online properties, genuine parts and accessories market partsales is the next in line to get full backing on Kelly’s Altima.
That means a new livery, with a bright, white look replacing the black and red used to promote bikesales at the last couple of rounds.
“It’s always cool to rock up to a race weekend with a new identity. I feel like a bit of a spy sometimes with a heap of different passports,” said Kelly.
“To have partsales on the car and to help be a part of that new platform is very cool. Partsales is one of those platforms that’s been lacking in the market.
“One of my favourite things to do after a long day’s work is to look through parts magazines. So to be able to do that on one website now is very cool.”
Kelly added that running a four-car Supercars team with its own machine shop has given him a new appreciation for the importance of quality parts.
“When we designed the race team we focused on maximising what our future capabilities could be,” he said.
“Running a competitive race car is all about how fast you can react to either a problem from a previous outing or develop a part that you’ve just dreamt up. So we needed to make sure we had the right design capability.
“Had we not set up the departments like we did in 2012, we wouldn’t have been able to carry out all the work to get the Altimas on the grid.
“We’re so confident in the design process and manufacturing of the parts, that in a lot of cases we end up with the new part in the car completely untested. Through our design capabilities with Autodesk, our quality control procedures are essential to being able to do that."
